The score responds to you
One cable from the piano you already own to your computer, and the sheet music on screen responds to your hands. Right notes turn green and the cursor moves forward. A wrong note is marked in red at the exact spot. Clef reads the keys you press, not a microphone. No guessing whether you got it right.
Memorize one bar at a time
Clef shows the bar before as a reminder, and you play the next bar from memory. It tells you instantly whether you had it. New bars get a gentle first pass with the score visible.
Each bar comes back before it slips
The proven spaced-repetition schedule, applied to your hands: every memorized bar is re-tested right when it matters. Miss one, and you re-practice it until it runs clean twice in a row.
Bring it up to speed
Turn on the metronome and play. Clef remembers, for every bar, the fastest tempo you've played it cleanly — and shows exactly which bars are holding the piece back. When you raise the tempo, it's because you've earned it.
From fragments to the whole piece
Clef first checks short groups of bars from memory. Once neighboring groups are solid, it joins them into progressively longer runs until the whole section connects. Sessions are capped: a done-for-today screen, a streak, and a practice heatmap that shows the habit building.

Questions before you start
What kind of piano or keyboard do I need?
Any digital piano or keyboard works! You just connect it to your phone, tablet, or laptop with a cable (usually the same kind a printer uses). Clef needs this direct connection to read the exact keys you play. Because of this, Clef does not support regular, non-electric pianos right now.
Where can I use Clef?
Clef is available for any device. On iPhone and iPad, download Clef from the App Store. On Android, get Clef from Google Play. On a laptop, use Chrome, Edge, Brave, or desktop Firefox.
What skill level is this for?
As long as you can read basic sheet music, Clef can take you from there!
Is Clef only for memorizing?
No! Clef can help you practice everything. It checks if you played correctly and identifies which bars still need practice. Memorizing just helps you to play with more speed and perform without sheet-music.
How many songs are in the app?
It is small but growing! We check every song by hand so the sheet music and grading are perfect. Would you like to play a song that isn't in the app yet? You can click on "request" within the app and we will usually add it within 1 day!
